Orange County Business Journal Nomination for Excellence in Entrepreneurship
Posted on 09 March 2016
Tomorrow is a big day for me and I cannot contain my excitement! I was nominated by the Orange County Business Journal for the Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award. Tomorrow is the luncheon and the winner will be announced - and it just so happens to be on my birthday! I've been waiting a couple months for this awards ceremony! Being an entrepreneur can be challenging and extremely fulfilling at the same time. This nomination is so near and dear to my heart as Orange County is where I was born, raised, received my many years of higher education from UC Irvine for my Bachelors in Economics and Minor in Management from their School of Business, and Western State University School of Law for my Doctorate in Jurisprudence. Orange County is where I met and married my law school sweetheart Shaun, and where I had my children Shane and Kara at Hoag Hospital. Orange County is also where I am a proud homeowner. It is through Orange County that I have been able to discover my strength and creative abilities, where I started my businesses which lead to my ability to give back to our community. I would like to thank our country of the United States of America for adopting my family in 1975 after the fall of Vietnam and giving me the opportunity to follow my dreams.
I am proud to be an entrepreneur. As I often share with my team members and colleagues, it is the greater impact on others that we make through the businesses my husband and I have established that is the reason why we continue to do what we do. Through Katie B Cosmetics, we give confidence to women to feel and be their most beautiful selves; in Katie B Realty, we help find homes where our clients can feel safe and where memories of a lifetime are made, and in the Law Office of Katie Bayliss, we protect the interest of business owners and homeowners, and we also comfort those in their time of need.
In all of the above, I can lay my head to rest at night and know I've given all I could and know I have impacted as many people as I could have. Thank you to my parents and siblings for believing in me since I was a young girl with my crazy ideas and concepts; my husband who is so supportive and allows me to share so much of myself with the community and world; my children who are so patient with me when I have to travel for business or stay up late to finish a deadline; my friends, colleagues, and social media friends and community who often provide me with uplifting words of encouragement. Lastly, thank you Orange County Business Journal for the nomination. I have been in business almost 10 years and the recognition for the hard work and impact to the local community warms my heart. Thank you.
Please leave me a heart or share with your entrepreneur friends. I hope sharing my story will allow others to follow their passion and make a difference in their local community.
